I was overjoyed on reading an article on Slashdot a while back about Dave Mitchell, who had successfully managed to obtain a refund from Dell for his unused copy of Windows on his brand-new laptop, as he wanted to install Linux instead. This is a major step in promoting Linux on the laptop, as no major manufacturers provide an OS-less laptop to date. It’ll now make me think twice about buying a secondhand laptop, knowing that I can buy one new without having to worry about paying 80€ for an OS I’m not even going to use…
